St. Hughs is completing it’s fifth year as a specialist Mathematics and Computing College. During this period we have seen improved ICT resources throughout the whole school incorporating five computer rooms, an engineering room designed for CAD/CAM and CNC programming and nearly every classroom fitted with an interactive whiteboard and subject specific software to support every department in the school.
We are using the i-learning centre, to give our students independent and interactive learning opportunities using the most up to date video, audio and 3D technology.
We are at an exciting time in developing links with our global partners. The Comenius project, The Game – A History of Science in Europe, is in it’s second year, and we have another Comenius Project, hopefully, due to start in September 2008.
The Student Voice are currently contacting schools from around the world, using Rafi-ki, a video conferencing tool, and we are looking forward to working on collaborative projects from around the globe.
St Hugh’s is enjoying great GCSE and BTEC success within the specialism areas. Mathematics has a 50% pass rate at November 2008, with English on 46%. BTEC ICT and Engineering have also achieved ‘early entry’ successes, meaning that the current year 11 group has achieved 67% at 5 A* to C and 46% at 5 A* to C, including English and Maths.
Well done to all!
